When reports emerged that Ben Westwood, the eccentric fashion designer son of Dame Vivienne, was to stage a catwalk show inside the Ecuadorian Embassy, starring none other than WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, the global press went bananas. It was, in so many ways, the perfect ruse: the clothes, it was claimed, would feature a ‘Julian Assange print’; The New York Times said the event would take the form of an intimate ‘presentation/cocktail party’.
